Grants for Artists - Tools to search & Skills to apply

  • The Hannah Grimes Center (map)

How great would it be to get free money to make your art, connect with your community, get that extra training that you need to create something spectacular… But nothing is totally free. Grant writing and research takes work!

Ginnie Lupi, of the New Hampshire State Council on the Arts, also an artist herself, shares what she has learned about grants, funding opportunities, and the best tactics to apply for funding that will take you and your art to the next level.

We’re presenting this workshop to help you narrow your search. Some great tools will be shared in this workshop to help you focus in on finding the right funders for your work. We will also review other skills needed to craft a stellar grant proposal!

These skills can also be applied to residency and fellowship applications to support your work with dedicated time away and education and other support for your work.

Snacks will be provided

$5 for members || $10 for nonmembers

Follow up:

This year we are trying something new. It’s easy to attend and think about applying and moving your business forward, but we’d love to give you the opportunity to follow through and be accountable. We’re looking at three ways to do this:

Attendees will be invited to join a Google Group - this is a private email conversation group, like a listserv, to keep accountable on your progress, share opportunities you come across, and ask for feedback from your peers!

We will also host a potluck gathering so attendees come back together and hear about your progress.

Arts Alive! Executive Director Jess Gelter will be available for pro bono coaching hours the first Friday of every month at the Hannah Grimes Center. Bring your draft applications or ideas and she’ll provide feedback, help you work out a timeline for applying to grants, or anything else you need to get you to the next level.
